The Fog Is Lifting

The February funk. I suffer from this every year. It usually settles in around mid January and really starts to suffocate me by February. I have found it harder since opening a home daycare to shake it. I think it is partially the lack of adult interaction and the cabin fever due to how difficult it is to get out and about with a full house of kids. I often find myself sullen, a little (the kids may say a lot) less patient, and very unmotivated.
This week I think I finally feel the February funk making its way south, or would it be north? The kids played well, listened well, we did some crafting and got outside to enjoy the March sunshine that has been shining upon us! Some of my motivation is creeping back (not quite a enough to tackle the tax receipts yet, but the thought is there). I've been making plans with friends, crocheting, baking and truly enjoying more time with the girls.

Spring is almost here, time to shake the cobwebs and renew the spirit!
Speaking of crochet - I made the most adorable hats the past couple days!
This one is for my neighbor's new babe.

And I made these ones for the girls.

I've been really trying to make more time for special moments with the girls. Let the dishes wait.
Miss Daisy is my little spirited child. One has to ride her moods like a roller coaster blind folded. You have no idea idea what to expect and once you think you have it under control there is a wicked turn. I'm starting to embrace this and know that her spit fire determination will serve her well in life.

Gawd I love that kid.

Miss Lily has now slept in her bed through the night, ALONE twice in a week!! This is a record. The first time she got a My Little Pony train as a reward (part of a bargaining agreement she made with daddy and was quick to remind us in the morning). This time she gets to go to her first theatre movie! Taking her to "The Lorax". I think I'm more excited.
Me: "Hey Lil, since you were a big girl and slept in your bed all night where do you get to go?"
Lily: "Disneyland!"
Me: "Ummmm, maybe just a movie."
Lily: "yay!"
Thank goodness she's easily amused.

Miss Lil's favorite new line.
"Shut the front door and get out of town."

Is Three A Crowd?

I love this picture. The sweet innocence of a child sleeping peacefully with a favorite blankie. It's a sight that can erase all those trying moments of the day. Make you forget about the looming terrible two's and the late night awakenings.
This picture also makes me a little sad. That's my baby. She looks so grown up in this picture. Everyday she is becoming more of a little person. Her vocabulary is growing (along with the attitude) and her personality is really shining through. She's my baby, yet before I know it she will be a big girl.
Lately I have been struggling with the whether or not we should have a third. People ask me all the time "so are you having another?". My initial straight from the top of my heart answer is "Yes!". But there have been a few more "maybe" thoughts creeping up. Thoughts of finances, plans to travel, going back to work and other details have me thinking on whether or not we have room for another. These things can be over come and of course there is always room for another child to love. My biggest fear is feeling alone. We don't have a strong close support system. We have done okay so far, but some days it can be hard, and lonely. Don't get me wrong, I have some great friends and family, but they have their own lives and my family lives just far enough away to be close but still too far.
When I see Daisy growing so fast I make myself stop and really take in those sweet baby moments, just in case those are the last.
So for now, I'm not sure if three is a crowd, ask me when we have had full nights sleep.

Happy Birthday Dr. Seuss!

“Today you are You, that is truer than true. There is no one alive who is Youer than You.”
― Dr. SeussHappy Birthday to You!
We celebrated by watching "Horton Hears A Who" and then making some clovers with a speck of dust (containing a Whoville of course). We also made our own crazy Dr. Seuss like creatures out of egg cartons. I didn't take a picture but they would have made the Dr. proud.
“Being crazy isn't enough.”

I sure do love that Dr. Seuss. His world must have been an amazing place. His stories can always bring a smile to my face. He spins your imagination in his magical ways. See how I rhymed - I don't have his grace ;-)

Anyway, the weekend is here and a full on it is. Swimming lessons. birthday parties, housework, groceries, and I hope to do a "big cook". I found this amazing website Once A Month Mom. Every month they put out different menus to do a "big cook". If you follow their menu you end up with approximately 18 dinners, 10 lunches and some breakfasts. The grocery list, recipes cards, timeline/instructions and labels are all ready and done for you. You can adjust it accordingly to the amount of people you want to cook for! Seriously, you need to check this out. I have everything I need for the traditional February menu printed out. I planned on hitting Costco and Superstore tonight, but is kind yucky out, so I am going to browse through the flyers and see if there is any good deals to be had here in my neck of the woods.

Have a good weekend all!
