♥ Long Weekend

As the extra long weekend winds down I can't help but wish that every week consisted of a 3 day work week with a 4 day weekend. Seriously, why should more of our week be spent grinding away to survive when there is barely enough time left to really enjoy the little things in life? But no point in whining about things I can not change, instead I shall look back at the extra time we had this week. Time we spent catching up on things that needed to be done and spending time as a family.

We kicked of the weekend with Canada Day celebrations at the park and the first Rider game of the season! It was great. Sun, slurpees, an edge of your seat Rider win, and celebrating the greatest country! Lily loved the park celebration with all the people, flags, and slurpees. She even went to sleep that night with her Canada Day hat that we had made for craft the day before. I got her cheering for the Green and White while we watched the football game together. Lily felt it was necessary to remind the boys to play nice. "Hey ... no pushing, not nice", she said to the tv

Friday we spent the majority of the day on a short road trip to Benson, SK to pick up a Yukon Curtis purchased. He finally said good-bye to his F150 single cab for something a little more family friendly. We still needed something that would be capable of pulling a camper or boat but needed to be able to put car seats in it as well. This will do the trick.

Saturday was catch up day around the house. I finished getting Lily's big girl room set up and all her stuff transferred over.

We are still working on getting her to sleep in there. For now she really enjoys playing in there and laying down in her big girl bed, but when the end of the night comes she really just wants her crib. I hope that we can get her in there for good soon so I can get the nursery ready for B#2. I am still not sure how to approach it without causing to much anxiety for her. She is already showing some signs of regression from the upcoming changes - no longer wants to use the potty, extra attached to her suckie and bunny, wanting to be picked up more, and more tantrums. My mommy guilt is starting to kick into overdrive and I constantly have to remind myself that adding to our family will not cause long term damage to Lily. In the end they will have a close bond and be best of friends as well as sisters (except during those dreaded teenage years when they fight over clothes, the bathroom, and boys).

Sunday (today if you are paying attention to the dates), we went out to Rowans Ravine. Lily's first real beach experience. It was a perfect day for it. Not too hot, barely a cloud in the sky, and just a slight breeze. Actually, come to think of it, it was a rare day for good ole SK. Lily loved the sand and didn't mind getting her feet wet in the lake, but was a little hesitant to do too much more in the water. I think the waves the boats were creating and the cooler temperature of the water was a little over whelming for her. Of course Lily, the official playground tester, had to make sure the slides and such were in tip top shape. Over and over again.

All in all it was a wonderful weekend and I am sad to see it end. Now it is time to count down to our first annual "Good Old Fashion Popescu Family Vacation". Only 29 days to go! I better get some rest ...
