Just Go The F*#! To Bed

My sweet child is testing my patience. She has been testing it every night for a few weeks now. We are smack dab in the middle of "Bedtime Battle". She is winning. The little girl who used to toddle herself to bed nightly, lay down without a peep and sleep until 8:00am, has been replaced. She has been replaced with a whining, screaming, conniving, excuse making, make me want to punch myself in the face as she yet again comes out of her my room. I thought it was bad when she ended up in our bed by 2:00 am, now she is starting in our bed. My nights are filled with little pokey arms and knees digging into my back. I am jolted from my slumber with the most Grating. Whining. Ever. This little 28lb creature hogs the blankets, takes up more room than an average male, breaths in my face and steals my spot every time I get up to tend to Miss Daisy. I go to sleep and dream of 8 hours of uninterrupted sleep. Alone.
Awhile ago I came across a link to a book that not only made me laugh but also made me feel so much better. A wave of realization washed over me as I accepted that we are not the only ones dealing with bedtime struggles. Also we are not the only ones that want to rip our hair out while running up and down the block yelling numerous cuss words.

This book takes a classic children's nighttime story and turns it into a children's book for grown-ups!

I am tempted to order it so I can give it to Miss Lily when she is struggling with her own children years from now. I guarantee she will struggle. I have already passed the "I hope you have 2 just like you" curse on to her.

Confession: When I oh so carefully sneak into bed, as to not wake the Gremlin (the fed after midnight kind, not the oh so cute kind), I stare at her adorable angelic face, stroke her hair and thank the stars above that I have these moments.
