Every year I tell myself "Next year I will simplify. Next year I will be better organized. Next year I will not get caught up in the hustle and bustle if commercialism. Next year I will not get stressed about the little things". But when December 1st rolls around, last years craziness has been forgotten like the workout DVD's from resolutions past. It is a vicious cycle.
Push all that aside I really do love Christmas. The lights, the music, the excitement. This year is bound to be the best yet. Lily "gets" it more this year and has been excited about Santa. She loves all the lights and decorations. She's been on a sugar high from us baking together for weeks.
I want to start some great holiday traditions with the girls. Things that as the years go by they can always rely on. I never really had that and it's really important to me that they do. If anyone actually reads this I would love for you to leave some of your favorite holiday traditions in the comment box!
Cheers and Merry Christmas!

I read it! I don't have any real Christmas traditions anymore... but I want to start a "Christmas Socks" tradition... where we both get a pair of silly socks in our stockings... meh, it's all about the silly, right?
ReplyDeleteOther than that, I think there will always be cookie decorating and ornament making.
I read it too :) We never really had any Christmas traditions growing up either. As long as my mom's apple pie is there, it's Christmas. Guess I better learn how to make it one of these years....
ReplyDeleteWe're lax on tradition too....
ReplyDeleteHubby and his brothers always got to pick out a little Christmas tree and decorate it outside their bedrooms - so we're going to keep that one up. I always got a new ornament every year - so when I moved out I'd have my own and they would mean something....not something two boys will care much about! So instead, we're getting them a fun and special hat every year and we will save those Christmas hats until they're grown up with kids! I think it'll be a hoot someday for them to see their kids (or family members) in their old hats. We LOVE the clothes our mom's saved of ours that we've seen them in....so this is more of the same :)
And, like Mandy said...baking, baking, baking!!
